The generation still looking for its car keys

The generation that would change the world is still looking for its car keys.

The Rainmakers sang that line back in the 80’s and this GenerationX kid thought it was an entirely too apt description of the Boomers, those flower children of the 60’s who quickly dropped their ideals and turned to making money with a vengeance.

Unfortunately, as Kurt Andersen wrote in this very thoughtful piece, they may have brought about one very real change, though not the one we expected: they ushered in a selfishness that now pervades our culture in a way that is shocking (or should be shocking) to anyone raised in a good faith-based home (irrespective of which faith the family practiced). Most faiths eschew amassing great wealth in favor of helping one’s fellow man
